Mask Mandate Back in Effect in Louisiana

In an attempt to address the rapidly increasing surge of COVID cases in Louisiana, Gov. Edwards has reinstituted a mask mandate, even for those fully vaccinated, until September 1. While the mandate is slated to end September 1st, there is a possibility for it to be extended given the state’s circumstances come September. Anyone attending an indoor gathering, unless they are in a home, is required to wear a face-covering over their mouth and nose. The governor also encourages anyone unvaccinated to receive their vaccinations as soon as possible to hopefully slow the spread and the death toll of the Delta variant of COVID-19. It is important to note that even if you are fully vaccinated, you are still susceptible to contracting and spreading the Delta variant. However, once you are fully vaccinated, the effects of Delta are minimized and are much less likely to require hospitalization
